Sisters reuniting to attend their late mother’s wake are swept into a series of rapid and unexpected developments, with a legendary pearl, worth 600 million yen, at the centre of the discoveries and ensuing drama. Lead character Harumi cannot forgive her father – with whom she’s had a longstanding feud – for causing her mother’s death from the hard labour of pearl farming. The surprising truth that is revealed at the climax of all the turmoil is a masterful denouement in world cinema. SFS is honoured and happy to bring this remarkable Japanese film to local audiences.
