About our Society
Singapore film society (SFS) is a non-profit organisation that was started over 60 years ago by a group of cinephiles who felt the need to diversify the films that were brought to Singapore's shores.
Today, we are the #1 partner for film events in Singapore.
We believe that films have the unparalleled potential to educate and unite people from all backgrounds.
We envision a society where everyone has equal exposure to meaningful and essential films,
and the platform to share their voices and opinions.
We aim to promote film appreciation as art and entertainment, and to bridge the gap between
art-house cinema and the commercial film industry.
Our Mission
Film is our favourite medium, and it can be yours too.
Here are our 3 core goals that guide everything we do.
Our Vision

Watch & Appreciate:
We want more people to enjoy films that are not readily available
in Singapore.
Grow the Community:
We want to spread the love for film as both a tool for education, relaxation and bonding.
Educate & Create:
Film has the power to spread important messages. It is an influential medium and we want to employ that to a good cause.
We are the largest organiser of film festivals in Singapore, collaborating with a wide range of partners –
from theatrical distributors, to diplomatic missions, and to academic and cultural institutions –
to present the best of international cinema locally.
We are renowned for our avant-garde programming, and over 60 years of professional experience in
organising film events, film festival management, and marketing.
Some of our key annual events include the European Union Film Festival (EUFF), Japanese Film Festival (JFF),
and the Singapore Chinese Film Festival (SCFF), amongst many other festivals and monthly screenings.
Basically, we ensure a full yearly calendar of film events for all to enjoy.
