Longevity Peach 寿桃
Director: Ng Xin Min
2017 | Drama | 17min | PG
LONGEVITY PEACH is about a little girl whose parents have to go overseas for work, and who is sent to stay with her grandmother for that period. The grandmother only speaks Teochew, which the little girl can neither speak not understand, so the initial generational and linguistic gaps result in friction and misunderstanding, until an accident unexpectedly brings the whole extended family closer together, and the child bonds with both her grandmother and her parents. Director Ng Xin Min was a student in Temasek Polytechnic when she made this heartwarming film.
Min began her filmmaking journey at Temasek Polytechnic, where she studied Digital Film and Television. With a deep passion for storytelling, she focuses on exploring familial and personal themes that resonate with diverse audiences. Her short film "Longevity Peach" garnered recognition at the 2018 New York Festivals, the International Creative Students Awards, and the Viddsee Juree Awards, marking her emergence as a creative voice in the industry.
Transitioning into advertising, Min has produced numerous commercial works for notable brands, including Starhub, Deliveroo and Smart Nation. Her career has taken her abroad, allowing her to refine her producing skills while collaborating with esteemed creative agencies such as Discovery and DDB.
In 2023, she produced another homegrown dialect film “银河 /yínhé/” that holds personal significance. This project received nominations for Best Short Film and Best Director at the National Youth Film Award 2023, further solidifying her reputation as a dedicated and innovative filmmaker. Min continues to push boundaries in her craft, connecting with audiences through her compelling narratives and visual storytelling.
